The best people, doing what they do best.
With knowledge that only comes from having years of experience in the business, your sales rep can get you through the process by combining that knowledge with a belief in the proposition that your satisfaction and success come first in any transaction. The sheer number of products, with their many variations, and the need to meet stringent requirements, specifications and schedules, means your best guide through it all is someone who is a phone call away and who understands the importance of their position as your point of contact with ICM.

Each market we serve is represented by sales people who understand the unique characteristics of the territory and its customers. Knowing the geography, geology, logistics, and even the local weather all play a part in our ability to exceed your expectations as a customer. Your sales rep talks directly to the scale house and the dispatcher. Your product is ordered, mixed, and loaded using technology. Your driver gets the delivery ticket by pneumatic tube and never leaves the truck. GPS technology directs the driver to your exact location. No opportunity to operate efficiently is overlooked because every person in the ICM supply chain knows our performance–and your satisfaction–will be judged on this order, not the last one. If we can find any way to improve anything we do, we’ll put it into practice and the customer will benefit.

To successfully serve the construction materials needs of the region, ICM has steadily and strategically expanded its geographical footprint to satisfy the requirements of more customers in more places. Not only does the nearby location of an ICM facility mean faster and more efficient order fulfillment in your own locale, but you are plugged into a network of quarries and asphalt plants that offer a selection of other products from other locations. This not only increases your ability to meet more of your customers’ needs, but allows you to do so with a supplier with whom you have a standing relationship, and with a history of mutual trust that is the foundation of that relationship. And you can take work in a new market knowing you already have a supplier there who knows what you need and stands ready to deliver it.

Quality work begins with quality materials.
By using the established testing procedures of the state agencies we work within, Independence Construction Materials Quality Control works with Operations to maintain the highest levels of quality in the materials we produce. When working with an ICM supplier, you can be assured that your product meets the necessary standards for your project. Independence Construction Materials provides products that meet the specifications provided by AASHTO and are Delaware DOT, Maryland SHA, and Pennsylvania DOT approved. ICM is also an approved material supplier for the Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Aviation Association (AMRL certified).

Our award winning facilities are equipped with experienced personnel who monitor the production of all of our products. To ensure quality products, they maintain and verify the proper calibration of all equipment in the labs. They test and document the aggregate gradations, aggregate specific gravities, absorption, and aggregate weights as well as test and document all Hot Mix Asphalt batches. This includes A.C. content, gradation, max and bulk specific gravity. ICM quality control technicians also test the percent compaction of field cores on the site. ICM personnel work hand in hand with the state departments to provide submittals and ensure quality of our products. Each location has a certified lab technician on site. Most of our technicians have over ten years of experience in the field. Our lab staff receives continuous training year round so they stay up to date with the latest technologies.

All company asphalt production facilities are consistent award winners for quality and safety, and the asphalt products they supply meet or exceed the strictest specifications. Our facilities have been honored with the Diamond Achievement Commendation for Excellence for the past 8 years in a row. This award recognizes production facilities that operate in an exemplary manor in the following categories: Appearance, Operations, Environmental Practices, Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and Community Relations. ICM facilities have also received Quality Pavement Awards for our HMA products. Our dedication to innovation allows us to consistently place amongst the best of the best in asphalt production. ICM laboratory equipment and procedures are constantly updated to yield the fastest, most current and most accurate data in the industry.

The right equipment, on and off the road.
Anyone who has ever seen a piece of ICM equipment, from a pick-up to a tri-axle dump truck to a massive in-quarry stone crusher, is looking at more than a machine. It is part of a fleet of vehicles and equipment put in service and carefully maintained for an express purpose and it is efficiently utilized to maximize production. Even more, it is an integral part of a customer-satisfaction matrix where exceptional human, mechanical and natural resources come together in a way that no other materials supplier can duplicate. We measure our success by your success and we know that, as long as you succeed, we do as well.

ICM makes a strong commitment to having the right equipment, and enough of it to produce and deliver the products you need. From the quarry floor to its final destination, all ICM orders are handled by our dependable, well-maintained fleet. You can be assured that your order will arrive in a safe and timely manner. ICM operators and drivers participate in continual safety training which reduces downtime and incidents on your job. ICM has set the standard for safety in our industry. Our reliability is crucial to our customers' productivity and success.

ICM's fleet is known as one of the cleanest, most well-maintained in the region. And our drivers are known as the safest and most courteous in the market. Since ICM maintains our own in house fleet, we are able to react immediately to our customer requests. This logistical advantage is passed directly on to our customers. Our trucks are equipped with GPS, which allows us to map the fastest routes for our drivers and make last minute changes without significantly delaying our delivery. Most ICM dispatchers have over 20 years of experience and are committed to providing the service you need, when you need it. ICM also has a strong relationship with independent contractors to supplement our own fleet if needed. All independent contractors complete an annual safety review and must retain high DOT ratings in order to business with ICM. These relationships, in addition to ICM’s in-house fleet, allow us to ensure that production on your project will not be slowed down due to a delivery schedule.
